“Satellite Drop” is a narrative indie short shooting in San Diego over 2 weekends 4/21-4/23 and 4/28-4/30.


The Satellite Drop is a short film based on the true story of a signal intelligence Marine during the early 1990s. This comedy, about a prank the Marines play on “the new guy” is set against the backdrop of the Iraq War and the end of the Cold War.

This low budget, non-union project has a professional crew attached. Credit, meals, and clips for reels will be provided. Project completion deadline is June 1, 2017 for submission to film festivals. (This is not a student project.)


LCpl Johnston: 18-25, white, male, very likable guy and a drummer. He’s the novice in the beginning and running the prank in the end.**

Sgt Wright: 25-30, white, male. He’s a laid back Marine who transforms into a serious Marine to convince Johnston that the mission is real. **

Non Speaking Roles:

LCpl: 20s, male or female. This is the new Marine who has to endure the bigger and better prank.**
