Leirigh Films Releases First Trailer for Satellite Drop

As part of their Marine Corps birthday celebrations today, Leirigh Films released the first trailer for their new film, Satellite Drop.

The film, about a young US Marine (PFC Johnston, played by J. Vasko-Bezenek) on his first tour of duty, takes place in  Scotland. Johnston and Sergeant Wright (played by Justin Savage) are tasked with SAT Drop Duty. The task takes them from one end of the base to the other to retrieve a canister of intelligence and deliver it to the Watch Officer (played by Jennie Olson Six) before time runs out.

Production Wraps on Satellite Drop

Leirigh Films Wraps Production on Satellite Drop

Leirigh Films has wrapped film production on Satellite Drop. The short film, set in Scotland, was shot in several locations around San Diego including Ocean Beach and Rosewood Five Studios. The ten minute comedy short film is set to screen at film festivals later this year.

The film stars J. Vasko-Bezenek and Justin Savage (SSgt. USMC) in the lead roles of Private First Class Johnston and Sergeant Wright respectively. With a cast and crew over 20 strong this is the largest production for the film company.

“We have a diverse cast, and a solid mix of professional and novice, cast and crew.” said director, L. V. O’Connell. “We’re also proud to have 6 veterans and an active-duty Marine working with us.”

Satellite Drop:  At a remote Signal Intelligence Post in Scotland, things take an unexpected turn after a young Marine on his first tour of duty, and the Sergeant responsible for training him learn they’ve been assigned SAT Drop duty.

Their task: to deliver a canister of intelligence before time runs out.

Arabic Voice Actors Needed

Formal Arabic Voice Roles:

Harbor Master: Male, formal Arabic speaker. The Harbor Master maintains a calm demeanor over the radio to a ship captain.  Need voice work and translation. Will receive voice actor and language consultant credit.
* The Arabic speakers in this film are not terrorists.

Ship Captain: Male, formal Arabic speaker.  The captain looses it when a warning shot is fired across the bow of his ship. Will receive voice actor and language consultant credit.

USMC Voice Role:

USMC Drill Sergeant: Male.  To do a ‘Welcome to Parris Island’ speech. * US Marine Corps experience preferred.

LCpl Johnston: 18-25, white, male, very likable guy and a drummer. He’s the novice in the beginning and running the prank in the end.**

Sgt Wright: 25-30, white, male. He’s a laid back Marine who transforms into a serious Marine to convince Johnston that the mission is real. **

Pre-production for Satellite Drop Begins

Leirigh Films announced today that it has begun pre-production for The Satellite Drop.  The short film, based on a true story, centers around a signal intelligence Marine stationed at a listening post in Scotland during the early 1990’s.

The project has secured the talents of several professional film production crew including Michael Brueggemeyer (Amalgamated Grommets), Bill Bork (Lens Flair), and Frank Forth (Forth Dimensions Video Productions).
